An eventful road trip to the Bay Area for the senior guard.

After reaching his 312th assist of the season, Gonzaga guard Ryan Nembhard was awarded his second West Coast Conference Player of the Week Award. That total amount of assists is the most in the country and only 20 other players in college basketball history have had 300+ assists in a single season.

He earned the award after collecting 31 total assists in the wins at Santa Clara and vs. San Francisco at the Chase Center this past week. Nembhard became the first Division-I player since 2011 with consecutive 15-assist performances as well as the first Division-I player with multiple 15-assist games against the same team (Santa Clara).

The senior guard set the West Coast Conference single-season record for assists at the Leavey Center on Tuesday and his 16 assists at the Chase Center on Saturday tied the school’s single-game record with Blake Stepp who did it in 2002.

Nembhard won’t win the West Conference Player of the Year Award but is a lock to be named to the First Team All-West Coast Conference. Gonzaga now awaits to find out who their opponent will be in the tournament semifinals on March 10th at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
