Virginia transfer Jalen Warley chooses Gonzaga

November 25, 2024 by Zags Blog

By SAM LANCE & ADAM ZAGORIA

Jalen Warley — a 6-foot-7 senior transfer guard from Virginia, has committed to Gonzaga. Warley will redshirt and compete for Mark Few next season.

“I enjoyed the family atmosphere and culture they have built there that allows them to be one of the premier programs in the country,” Warley told ZAGSBLOG. “I will bring a versatile skillset that can run a team and create for myself and others.”

Warley entered the transfer portal after Tony Bennett announced his retirement as the head coach of Virginia in October. This is the second time he’s entered the portal in his career.

The former top-35 prospect out of high school will join the Bulldogs after three years at Florida State. Warley has not played a minute this season for Virginia. Last year at Florida State, he averaged 7.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists.

Gonzaga will now redshirt two guards — Jalen Warley and Colgate transfer Braeden Smith — during the 2024-25 college basketball season.

Smith was the Patriot League Player of the Year last season. https://t.co/qdAsN9dwdl
