NBA Zags dealing with injuries this week
Gonzaga alums have been bit with the injury bug of late, with Sabonis, Clarke, and Rui all missing games this past week with various ailments. Despite these setbacks, there have been some solid performances both in the states and abroad over the last seven days.
Kelly Olynyk: Olynyk has been playing well of late, with back-to-back twenty point games this week. He had 26 with 8 rebounds, and 5 three pointers against New Orleans, and followed that performance with a 21 point effort against Phoenix. The two games were his fifth and sixth 20-point games this season.
Domantas Sabonis: Domas has missed the last three games for the Pacers after twisting his ankle last week. He had 8 points and 10 rebounds against Charlotte in his last game before the injury. Indiana is 23-27 on the year, in 9th place in the Eastern Conference.
Rui Hachimura: Rui has missed his last two games with a minor shoulder injury, but returned with 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals in a win over the Magic. He had 10 points against Detroit in his last game prior to the injury.
Brandon Clarke: Clarke has missed the last two games for the Grizzlies with a mild calf strain, but should return within the next few days. He had 11 and 15 points in his last two games before going down. Memphis is currently 26-23, good for 8th place in the West.
Killian Tillie: Tillie has played in each of the last five games for Memphis, including 5 points against Miami and a 4 point, 4 rebound performance against Atlanta.
Nigel Williams-Goss: Williams-Goss has been the top player for Lokomotiv Kuban ever since he joined the club, and added to his strong season by winning VTB League player of the week honors. In his lone game this week, Nigel went for 23 points and 9 assists while shooting 8-12 from the field. He is averaging 17.5 points and 6 assists per game for Lokomotiv, who are 4th in the league at 14-6.
Filip Petrusev: Petrusev had another big game this week, with 28 points (10-20 FG) and 10 rebounds in a win for Mega SoccerBet. He still leads the league in scoring by a wide margin; his 23.5 points per game are six more than the next highest scorer. He is also in the top five in rebounds and blocks for Mega, who are 6th in the Adriatic League at 13-10.
Kevin Pangos: Pangos’ Zenit squad clinched the regular season title in the VTB League with their win this season; they are 19-3 with just three games left to play. Pangos contributed to the effort with 10 points and 8 assists, as well as 9 points and 7 assists in the team’s EuroLeague matchup this week. Zenit is 9th in the EL at 18-14, one game out of a playoff spot, with their last regular season contest taking place today.
Geno Crandall: Crandall has been having a solid season for the Leicester Riders of the British Basketball League. He leads the team with 16.8 points and 7.7 assists per game. The Riders are 19-4 in the BBL with three games left in their regular season.
Kyle Wiltjer: Wiltjer had 21 points and 6 rebounds for Turk Telekom in their lone game this weekend. He leads the team and is third in the league with 18.7 points per game. Turk Telekom is currently in playoff contention in the Turkish Super League, sitting in 7th place at 15-12.
