There has been a huge surge of some of the best quarterbacks in the NFL coming from out west such as Josh Allen (CA), Justin Herbert (OR), Jared Goff (CA), and Jayden Daniels (CA) among others. So regionally, UW is at an advantage year-over-year. Will that hold true for the 2027 class as well?
Over the past five recruiting classes (including 2026), there have been at least four 4-stars and one 5-star quarterback prospects out west. All of that to say, it is a surprise that there are currently only three 4-star quarterbacks out west for the 2027 class and zero 5-stars. Coach Fisch and his staff have taken a more national approach to their recruiting strategy and have proven that they will offer a prospect anywhere that they feel can improve their roster. Let us take a deep dive together at the 13 quarterbacks Fisch & co. have offered in the 2027 class.
I have decided to place each prospects into one of four tiers:
Committed: Just as the name implies, these are prospects that have already committed to other schools and the staff is no longer actively recruiting them.
Tier 1: Would accept their offer no matter when they are ready to commit. Reserved for the prospects at the very top of their board.
Tier 2: Prospects they are actively recruiting and would really like to have. If they were forced to choose between a prospect in tier 1 and 2 they would select tier 1, but tier 2 are very talented players who UW would have a good shot at.
Tier 3: Prospects that UW are not seriously in the running for or they are still evaluating more than actively recruiting.
Committed Tier (3)
Brady Edmunds (Huntington Beach, CA) National Rank: 233 Position Rank: 15 Committed to: Ohio State
Edmunds debuted at number 14 in the 2027 class when it was first released, he has a rocket arm, natural poise in the pocket, and is sneaky athletic so he can hurt you with his feet when given room as well.
Kamden Lopati (Salt Lake City, UT) Position Rank: 18 Committed to: Illinois
While his arm isn’t quite as strong as Edmunds’, Lopati still throws an excellent deep ball and prefers to use his mobility and athleticism to extend plays rather than take off running. When he does though, he is a threat.
Jameson Purcell (Park Ridge, IL) Position Rank: 25 Committed to Indiana
A lefty QB with a fast release and can also ruin defenses with his legs, going to Indiana? I feel like I have seen that before, but where?
Tier 3 (5)
Trent Seaborn (Alabaster, AL) National Rank: 219 Position Rank: 14
If I had to choose one word to describe Seaborn, it would be fearless. He is so poised in the pocket, even when surrounded by defenders, and seems to always make plays one way or another. There is no doubt the coaches would love to have him, but he is not considering UW at this time.
Kael Snyder (Gilbert, AZ) Position Rank: 35
Watching his film, I was reminded of Jake Browning when he was coming out of HS. Not the biggest arm in the world, but poised and accurate. If you let him run he will hurt you, but it isn’t his weapon of choice. Some schools that have offered him at this stage include the local schools (Arizona and ASU), Kansas State, and Oklahoma State among others. UW was the last school to offer him back in May and while they clearly like his ability, it appears they have other prospects higher on the board at this time.
Chance Thomas (Anaheim, CA) Position Rank: 41
With his legs being just as dangerous as his arm, Thomas must give opposing DCs fits on gameday. Not only does he excel at running, but he is very accurate throwing on the run as well so if DBs try and come up and help stop the run, he will exploit that for a huge gain. Thomas has received early offers from Arizona, ASU, Utah, and UW among others.
Luke Farrell (Tempe, AZ) Position Rank: 46
The 6’5 southpaw certainly has a strong arm that can really stretch the field. He does seem to get away from his mechanics when he is under pressure, but that is something that can improve with time and repetition. He currently has offers from Arizona, Kentucky, Minnesota, Oregon State and UW. Right now, it appears that UW is prioritizing other targets over him.
Grayer Hong (White Plains, NY) Position Rank: N/A
You may be asking yourself, why would UW offer a QB in NY that doesn’t have any other offers to his name? In addition to his talent, Hong’s dad Shae is a former walk-on at UW. Hong is clearly a fan of the program that his dad was a part of and wants to connect more with the coaches. The coaches are certainly keeping an eye on him, but have other prospects higher on their board at this time.
Tier 2 (4)
Blake Roskopf (Goodyear, AZ) National Rank:202 Position Rank: 12
Roskopf has already shown national recruiting services why he can’t be ignored. At a towering 6’5 235 Lbs. he posses excellent pocket awareness to go with his cannon of an arm. He has already proven that he can make off-platform throws and throws on the run as well. He is still receiving quite a lot of new offers, but already holds offers from schools including Indiana, Missouri, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and UW among others.
Caden Jones (Irvine, CA) Position Rank: 27
There is a solid chance that Jones could be the best athlete at the QB position in the entire country. He is extremely fast and not just by QB standards. He is also so athletic that he also holds an offer from UW and others for basketball as well. Since his recruitment could be a multisport consideration, it will likely take quite some time before he makes a decision. He has a lot of major powerhouse schools after him though including Georgia, LSU, and Michigan among others.
Dane Weber (Temecula, CA) Position Rank: 28
Of all the prospects, Weber could be the most ideal prospect that Fisch wants at the position. He is accurate (67% completion, 27:3 TD:INT ration), mobile (834 yards and 11 TDs), doesn’t go down easily because he is so elusive, and has an incredibly strong arm. If only there were a similar HS QB prospect that Fisch had recruited before that sounds similar to that to compare it to. Weber is underrecruited in my opinion, but still holds offers from Arizona, ASU, Utah, and UW among others.
Daniel Mielke II (Murrieta, CA) Position Rank: 40
At 6’4 205 and able to make nearly every throw on the field, it is no wonder why Mielke II has garnished so much attention. He holds offers from Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, Texas A&M, and UW among others.
Tier 1 (1)
Sione Kaho (Tacoma, WA) Position Rank: 16
It won’t be the same with every position group that we cover, but Kaho is the only QB prospect in tier 1 because there is no doubt he is the clear top target for the UW coaching staff. They have done everything to make him a top priority and he is reciprocating as well. At one point Oregon had a slight lead for him, but UW turned up the heat and Oregon has looked elsewhere as well. It feels like a matter of when and not if Kaho will commit to the local school.
Kaho has shown not only talent, but polish from very early on in his HS career. With good mechanics, smooth motions and strong decision making he has garnered a lot of attention from college programs.
