The biggest upset of the first full college football Saturday took place in stunning fashion on the West Coast.
Washington, the No. 20 team in the country heading into the regular season, was shocked by Montana, 13-7, late on Saturday evening.
The college football world is pretty shocked by this one.
Washington led 7-3 at halftime, though the Huskies were out-scored, 10-0, in the fourth quarter of the contest.
Montana, of course, is extremely pumped.
“GRIZ WIN! Montana defeats #20 Washington for the first time in over 100 years! It’s only the second FCS win over a ranked FBS opponent in FCS history!” the program tweeted.
Washington’s loss was one of several surprising results on Saturday night, though it was by far the biggest.
Washington didn’t just lose – the Huskies paid to lose. According to reports, Washington paid Montana $675,000 for the out-of-conference game.
Washington will hope to bounce back next weekend. The Huskies will take on Michigan in Ann Arbor next Saturday night.
Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. E.T. The game will air on ABC.
