Fans Believe 1 QB Has Pulled Ahead In Heisman Race

November 5, 2023 by The Spun

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – DECEMBER 10: (L-R) Quarterback Stetson Bennett of the Georgia Bulldogs, Quarterback Max Duggan of the TCU Horned Frogs, Quarterback C.J. Stroud of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Quarterback Caleb Williams of the USC Trojans pose with the Heisman Trophy after a press conference prior to the 2022 Heisman Trophy Presentation at New York Marriott Marquis Hotel on December 10, 2022 in New York City. It’s a battle of Heisman Trophy contenders at the LA Coliseum right now as Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. duels USC’s Caleb Williams. But right now fans are convinced that one of them has clearly pulled ahead.

Right now the two Pac-12 quarterbacks rank among the favorites to win the prestigious award. So prior to the game, Brobible’s Dov Kleiman took to X and asked, “Caleb Williams vs Michael Penix, who should win the Heisman?”

The responses were pretty unanimous: It’s Michael Penix Jr. Though the main reason for that is that Williams simply isn’t having a great season right now.

“Caleb would need a lot of other players to start playing terribly to have a legitimate chance at winning the Heisman again this year,” one user replied.

“Penix. Williams has not had his best year,” wrote another.

“Michael Penix,” a third wrote. “Caleb Williams is just another Trey lance.”

Thus far the two quarterbacks have been putting on a show. They’ve led their teams to a combine 35 points on the first seven drives and have combined for 175 passing yards.

The game is being played on ABC.
