Happy Monday Dawg fans, and welcome to today’s Dots.
With the series level at 2 – 2 since HC Chris Petersen retired in 2019, Saturday’s Apple Cup felt — for 3 quarters at least — like harkening back to days when win/loss records and point spreads meant little in forecasting the on-field competitiveness of the annual battle between UW and WSU. If not for an early INT by standout Alex McLaughlin, the Cougs would’ve been matching UW score for score for most of the game.
For 3 quarters the Huskies had no answer for WSU QB Zevi Eckhaus — who looked like Tom Brady against the Husky defense until the wheels finally and drastically came off early in the 4th quarter.
BUT. The Husky offense was once again unstoppable behind Demond Williams Jr., Jonah Coleman, and Denzel Boston. And once the defense quickly got two more turnovers, WSU fell apart. Game. Set. Match.
The Dawgs left Pullman with a 35-point margin of victory, and the 59 points scored by the Huskies were an Apple Cup record.
- In a clear dig at the Cougs’ insufficient point total, and because having 59 final thoughts is obscene, Christian Caple has: “The Day After: 24 final thoughts on Washington’s Apple Cup win“

- Want even more good news?! The College Inn Pub is open for business again after a second ownership change in recent years. “The business’s goal … is to be fully operational by Sept. 24 — the first week of UW’s fall quarter. In the meantime, the pub will continue to add features week by week.” I personally have a lot of memories there from my time at UW and I’m thrilled they’re cheating potential death once more. I hope all Dawgs living local can give them the support they need to keep going for another generation and beyond.
So bad it’s still bad okay fine. So fake yet all too real:
This looks like it would’ve been good from 65 yds. Ken?
After watching the Apple Cup I realized the only way UW can beat Ohio State is to outscore them…

Go Dawgs!!
