Happy Sunday Husky fans. The Husky coaches hit the road this week to see some of their 2026 commits as well as some 2027 recruits that they are monitoring or have offered. They technically can’t have in home visits with the players, but they are able to drop into the school and watch games of the players. Here is a look at where some of the UW coaches went:
Wide receiver coach Kevin Cummings headed down to Arizona to check on some 2027 wideouts he has offered already. Some guys he checked on were 4 star wide receiver Zerek Sidney from Desert Edge HS, AZ & 4 star wideout Dontay Tyson from Peoria HS, AZ, and 3 star athlete Jai Jones from Chandler HS, AZ. The Huskies have hit the state of Arizona hard since Jedd Fisch arrived and that should continue over the next several cycles.
Running back coach Scottie Graham was on the road in Arizona as well checking on his top target in the 2027 class. Noah Roberts from Basha HS, AZ, who is rated as the 4th best running back in the country, is a player that Graham has targeted and been very high on for a while. The Huskies are battling Ohio State, and Texas to try and land Roberts but they have put themselves in a good position to try and be at the top of his list once he starts visiting schools.
Also hitting up the state of Arizona was offensive line coach Michael Switzer. Coach Switzer has already offered 3 players from the state of Arizona already in the 2027 cycle and he was down in Arizona to check on 4 star offensive tackle Jake Hildebrand from Basha HS, AZ, 3 star offensive tackle Benjamin Lowther from Centennial HS, AZ, and 3 star interior offensive lineman DaJohn Yarborough from Basha HS, AZ. The state of Arizona continues to be a state that has a lot of prospects not only at the skill positions but also in the trenches and the Huskies have been hitting the state hard.
The secondary coaches were down in California over the weekend to check in on some guys. It sounds like coach Mays and Walters were out at 4 star safety Gavin William’s game. Williams, who is from Damien HS, CA is one of the top safeties out west in a pretty deep safety class in the 2027 cycle. Coach Richardson was down in California checking out a bunch of cornerbacks in the 2027 cycle (there are 7 4 star cornerbacks in the 2027 cycle). I would expect the secondary class of 2027 to include a ton of players from California and it’s good to see the Husky staff making those players a priority.
The 2027 class currently doesn’t have any commits in it, but I wouldn’t be concerned by that. As the season progresses, and recruits start to visit schools unofficially, we should see at least a couple of commits before the end of the year and then things will really ramp up in February and continue through June/July next year for the 2027 class. That is all for today and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
