Recruiting Roundup: Taking A Look At Next Weekend’s Opening Game Visitors

August 26, 2025 by UW Dawg Pound

Happy Sunday Husky fans. We are inching closer to the beginning of the football season for the Huskies, and with that comes visits to campus again for recruits. It sounds like there will be several visitors on campus not only from the 2026 class but also the 2027 class.

The lone official visitor will be 3 star wide receiver Blaise LaVista from Lincoln-Way East HS, IL. LaVista committed to UW back in July without visiting UW officially prior. LaVista, who is rated as the 197th best wide receiver in the 2026 class by 247sports, is one of two wide receiver commits in the class for the Huskies. Last season LaVista put up 1,447 yards and 24 touchdowns on 60 receptions.

There will also be 2 out of state unofficial visitors it sounds like, both committed already to UW. 4 star wide receiver Mason James from Norman North HS, Ok will be in town to check out the Huskies and his future college home. James was a massive recruiting win for the Huskies and he is rated as the 26th best wide receiver in the 2026 class by 247sports. 4 star safety Gavin Day from Faith Lutheran HS, NV will also be in town to check out his future college home. Day, who just kicked off his season with a 98 yard pick six, is rated as the 20th best safety in the country by 247sports.

From the 2027 class the Huskies will have local 4 star quarterback Sione Kaho from Lincoln HS, WA on campus for an unofficial visit. Kaho, who is rated as the 15th best quarterback in the 2027 by 247sports, is one of the top quarterback targets for the Huskies. Listed at 6’2” and around 205 pounds he has a bigger frame than a lot of recent quarterbacks that coach Fisch and his staff have brought in. Kaho already holds offers from a handful of schools and it sounds like some early favorites for him are BYU, Oregon, and UW.

Locally I also expect several recruits to be on campus for the opening game next weekend against Colorado State. 4 star defensive line commit Derek Colman-Brusa from Kennedy Catholic HS, WA will likely be in attendance as well (nothing confirmed, but he has been a regular on campus).

That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
