Recruiting Roundup: Taking A Look At The Remaining Portal Needs

January 12, 2026 by UW Dawg Pound

Happy Sunday Husky fans. After a tumultuous last week on Montlake I wanted to take a look at what portal additions we may see for the Huskies in the coming days. So far the Huskies the have added 7 portal players and will likely see a few more added over the coming week.

Along the defensive line the Huskies have added 3 defensive lineman but with 4 portal entries plus several other players running out of eligibility it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Huskies bring in another defensive lineman who can line up inside and also potentially play some edge. By my math the Huskies will return 3 interior defensive lineman so they are attempting to remake the defensive line this off-season. Keep an eye out for more reinforcements to be brought in to bolster the depth and experience along the defensive line in the coming days.

At wide receiver the Huskies are still looking to add their WR#1 next season after losing Denzel Boston to the draft. The Huskies are bringing in 4 wide receivers from their 2026 class, and while they are talented I suspect the Huskies are looking to add someone with some more experience to their roster. It’s been rumored that the Huskies have been in contact with Ohio State wide receiver Quincy Porter who was a 5 star recruit coming out of high school. Adding a wide receiver like Porter would make a ton of sense as he likely projects as an outside wide receiver and has the size and speed that the Huskies have been looking for (he’s listed at 6’4” and around 210 pounds). Keep an eye out for not only Porter but other wideouts to be mentioned in the coming days.

Running back is another position the Huskies will need to add another seasoned player to their roster. Former Lake Stevens star Jayden Limar, who has played at Oregon for 3 years, was on campus for a visit this week and would be a decent pickup for the Huskies. The Huskies already have 5 backs on the roster but Jordan Washington is the only one with meaningful playing time and he doesn’t have the frame to carry the rock 15-20 times yet. I would keep an eye out on Limar and other backs being mentioned visiting Montlake over the coming days. Ideally the Huskies would bring in a workhorse back who could fill the Jonah Coleman role, but with touted true frosh Brian Bonner on campus I suspect the coaches will try and give some of the younger players like him a role in this offense.

It sounds like the Huskies aren’t targeting any tight ends right now (they have 7 on the roster as of this writing and they want to stand pat with what they return). It also sounds like they aren’t going to try and bring any edge players as of now and they will make it work with what they have (they return- Lane, Hyde, Ward, and Davis and are adding Colman-Brusa and Hill who will play some edge).

The Huskies have addressed their special teams need with a punter and kicker from the portal and they should be set for next season there. I also suspect that the huskies may be done bringing in offensive lineman after adding Kolt Dietrich in the portal (as well as bringing in Greene, Harris, and Deong Yang from the 2026 class). There are 11 returning players and assuming no more portal entries they will have 15 scholarship offensive lineman which should be fine from a depth standpoint. Likewise I think they are fine at both linebacker and defensive back (linebacker they are adding 2 talented players from the 2026 class and return almost all of their top linebackers and in the secondary they are set with 2 bigger corners now who should start plus all of the younger players at corner. At safety they are set with McLaughlin and RDA returning and some younger players waiting in the wings).

That is all for today and as always follow me @asieverkropp for recruiting news.
