Washington Star Dillon Johnson Announces Status For National Championship Game

June 26, 2024 by The Spun

NEW ORLEANS, LA – JANUARY 01: Washington running back Dillon Johnson (7) blows a kiss to the crowd after scoring a touchdown during the All State Sugar Bowl playoff game between the Texas Longhorns and the Washington Huskies on Monday, January 1, 2024 at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, LA. Washington star running back Dillon Johnson may not be fully healthy for Monday’s National Championship Game but that doesn’t mean he’s not playing.

Johnson told ESPN’s Pete Thamel that he’s going to play no matter what.

“But it’s all good. I’ll be ready to rock and roll and give whatever my team needs. I’ll be ready to do it,” Johnson said.

Spoke to Washington tailback Dillon Johnson about his status for Monday. He said he “doubts” he’ll be 100-percent. “But it’s all good. I’ll be ready to rock and roll and give whatever my team needs. I’ll be ready to do it.”

Johnson has been one of Washington’s best playmakers this season, compiling 222 carries for 1,162 yards and 16 touchdowns in 14 games. He racked up 21 carries for 49 yards and two touchdowns in the Sugar Bowl against Texas last Monday.

Having him out there will be massive for the Huskies as they try and win a national title. The Wolverines will also have to gameplan for him, which isn’t easy.

Kickoff for Monday’s title game will be at 7:30 p.m. ET and it’ll be nationally televised by ESPN.
