Now, when I die
Now don’t think I’m a Dot
Don’t want no fancy funeral
Just one like ole king Tut
- The Husky offense looked like a totally different team last time out against Illinois as compared to previous games against top-25 caliber opposition. A big reason for the turnaround was the return of LT Carver Willis from a knee injury. Christian Caple details the path Willis took to minimize his time on the sidelines. When Jedd Fisch and company jumped on Willis early in the transfer portal, it was unclear that the career RT would be able to immediately transition to the blind side. It’s a scouting victory that he was a starter on day one and has helped to transform the offense.
- Jimmie Dougherty spoke to the media on Tuesday and had similar thoughts about Willis and his OL-mate John Mills. Dougherty also highlighted the situational success the Huskies had against Illinois as a key factor in maintaining development on the offensive side of the ball.
- The Husky Soccer teams have earned awards all season long and lived near the top of the Big 10 standings. The women’s team got another honor this week. Head Coach Nicole Van Dyke was named Big 10 Women’s Soccer Coach of the Year. The Dawgs also won Defender of the Year (Kolo Suliafu) and several other awards.
- Jon Wilner updated his bowl projections following Week 10. Despite progress for the Huskies on the field, he has them going back to the Sun Bowl as they did a season ago. Keep in mind that the Huskies are still part of the old Pac-12 Bowl tie-ins, so big wins for teams like Utah and Arizona St have an impact on where UW may play in the holiday season.
