Wednesday Dots: As We Wind on Down the Dots

January 22, 2026 by UW Dawg Pound

I gotta roll, can’t stand still
Got a flaming heart, can’t get my fill
Eyes that shine burning red
Dreams of Dots all through my head

  • If Jedd Fisch’s roster projections are to be believed, the Huskies still have work to do in the transfer portal. At the same time, the roster is getting closer to completion on both sides of the ball. The Seattle Times takes the opportunity to dig into the defensive side and project a depth chart based on the players we know will be on the roster at this point.

  • At On Montlake, Christian Caple has a rangy piece of analysis about what Indiana tells us about the state of the Big 10 and college football. The Hoosiers have bucked so many historical trends, but one that is especially relevant to the Huskies is how quickly they turned the Big 10 balance of power on its head. Curt Cignetti and his staff have been ahead of the game at essentially using the transfer portal as a mechanisms to give many more scouting opportunities than a coaching staff would have based only on high school film and scouting.

  • In the exact opposite direction, UW’s staff is spending the week making in-home visits to 2027 high school recruits. The Dawgs made the smart move of going to visit top OL target Reis Russell. Maybe Russell will turn out to be a star at UW, maybe he won’t. But what we know for sure is that he will have the best head of hair on the roster.

  • Huskies men’s tennis started the year 2-0, but dropped their first match of the year yesterday against Princeton. The Tigers have higher-ranked players up and down their team, but the Dawgs gave them lots of competitive matches. Princeton ultimately took the match 6-1, but many of the individual match-ups were much closer than the total indicated.
