Wednesday Dots: Having Second(ary) Thoughts

October 1, 2025 by UW Dawg Pound

Washington Huskies News and Notes after Ohio State game and preparing to face Maryland Terrapins

One night when I was seventeen, I drank a fifth of Dots,
On an empty stomach, then drove over to a friend’s house.
And I backed my car between his parent’s Cadillac’s without a scratch.
Then crawled to the back door and slithered threw the key hole

  • Headed into the showdown with Ohio State, there was concern about the state of Washington’s secondary. Most of the consternation had to do with the health of star CB Tacario Davis. Indeed, Davis missed the game with a rib injury and ceded most of his playing time to freshman Dylan Robinson. Andy Yamashita of the Seattle Times takes stock of UW’s secondary to this point of the season and tries to forecast what to expect going forward. From where I sit, the safeties have exceed my expectations- especially Alex McLaughlin-, Davis has been as good as advertised when able to play, and Ephesians Prysock and the assorted slot corners have had ups and downs. Getting Davis back will make everyone look better, so the sooner he recovers, the better the secondary will look.

  • In what has become something of a weekly feature, Christian Caple has another “Behind the Scenes” video from the Ohio State game. This one features a heavy dose of sailgating interviews and some video from the sidelines. Fortunately, no clumsy referees plowed into Caple and flagged him for journalistic interference.

  • The Dawgs hosted a bevy of recruits for both the ‘26 and ‘27 classes over the weekend. The weather, the crowd, and the overall environment were about as good as possible to make someone want to come back to Seattle. Dawgman has been posting visit reports for many of the recruits. One of the more interesting visitors was DB Mikyal Davis, who will also visit Alabama, Ohio State, and Oklahoma. Despite the blue blood competition, it sounds like Davis has already built a great relationship with John Richardson and the Huskies have a real chance to bring him to Montlake.
  • It certainly doesn’t feel like basketball season yet, but Danny Sprinkle is already speaking at Big 10 media day. Sprinkle and the Dawgs certainly took their lumps in their first season in the Big 10 and did not stand pat. Sprinkle brought in 13 new players and believes that the Dawgs rotation will be ready to go 10 or 11 deep. With so much depth, the team will use summer practices to work out a rotation and a starting lineup.

  • The Husky Men’s Soccer team has continued its positive play with two more Big 10 wins over the weekend. They picked up three points be shutting out Northwestern 1-0 on the road. The win puts UW first in the Big 10 as the first team to reach nine points in the conference standings.
