I’m going where the cold wind blows
In the Dots, in the Dots
Where the sun don’t ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through
- We all know that the Husky Football program (and fandom) has been tumultuous for the last decade. From the relative stability of the Chris Petersen era to the outrageous plunge under Jimmy Lake to the sudden ascension under Kalen DeBoer to the more steady hand of Jedd Fisch (so far), Husky fans have been on an emotional roller coaster. Imagine what it has been like for players who have been with the program for two, three, or even all four of those coaches. Apple Cups are, for now, an annual measuring stick for the program. While the Dawgs endured a frustrating loss last year, there are plenty of players who want to leave on a high note after varied experiences across their careers. Christian Caple discusses players like Zach Durfee, Landen Hatchett, and Quentin Moore going into this year’s Apple Cup.
- Ryan Walters will participate in his first Apple Cup as the Defensive Coordinator. He is impressed by the history of the rivalry and wants to get his team ready, but he also says that he tries to prepare his players for every game like it is the Super Bowl.
- Scott Eklund has his useful Around the Big 10 post for the week. With 50% more conference members in the B1G than in the biggest era of the Pac-12, it can be helpful to get a summary of what else is happening. Of course, it is hard to miss the headline of what happened in Pasadena, where UCLA was thumped by New Mexico and Deshaun Foster was removed from his job as Head Coach.
- Away from the football field, over on the football pitch, Husky Men’s Soccer continued a better run of form against Gonzaga. The Dawgs had an uneven start to the season, but have now won three in a row and haven’t lost in their last six to get to 4-2-2 overall. This win was particularly impressive, as they blanked the Zags 6-0.
