National Game of the Week: #15 Michigan @ #18 Oklahoma
There’s only one match-up between two ranked team this weekend after a loaded schedule in Week 1. Still, this game offers lots of intrigue. Both teams are trying to rebuild their offenses to be more dynamic after they couldn’t score enough to support good defenses last year. OU brought in John Mateer as a dual-threat QB transfer from Washington State. Michigan brought in arguably the top HS QB recruit in the country in Bryce Underwood. They are two very different paths and it will be exciting to see which one of them pays off faster in this early-season match-up.
Also of note
- Kansas @ Missouri – Neither team is ranked, but there are interesting storylines on both sides. Plus, it’s a true rivalry game where the fans of both sides despise each other, even if they no longer share a conference affiliation.
- Iowa @ Iowa State – The Battle for the Cy-Hawk Trophy is near the bottom of my list of favorite rivalry game names. Even without a catchy moniker, the game is usually a hard-hitting war. The Cyclones got off to a good start by beating Kansas State in Dublin and can take the next step here.
