#Woof!: Huskies Land Their First Transfer of the Cycle

January 6, 2026 by UW Dawg Pound

In a quiet move, Sam Houston State OL Kolt Dieterich updated his social media not with a big post announcing his commitment, but by simply stating in his profile that he is an OL at UW Football. Seems like enough validation to me!

Dieterich took a visit to Montlake this past weekend and the Huskies sealed the deal on the visit. After losing a few OL to the portal, they made the move to bring in an experienced player like Dieterich to help replenish the departing talent. For eligibility, he has two years to play two.

Dieterich was part of the 2023 class out of Riesel HS (Riesel, TX) and other than Sam Houston State, his only other offer out of HS was to Columbia. In his first season on campus he saw action in three games, but was able to redshirt. In the following season, he appeared in all 13 games and started six of the final seven games for the Bearkats. This past season he anchored the OL at RT and earned PFF’s highest grade of any OL in conference USA this season with 75.5

So where does he fit in with the roster? We don’t expect him to push returning three year starter Drew Azzopardi out of a job, but he will provide a seasoned backup for a year and the heir apparent to take over for him after the 2026 season. One thing we have learned in our two seasons in the B1G is that you can never have too much quality depth in the trenches because injuries will happen and you need the next man up to be high quality as well.

247 Sports has him rated very highly as a transfer with a 92 rating, the 6th highest rated OT in the portal and the 64th overall player.
