The junior helped the Cougs to two wins over the week

Washington State junior Bridget Rieken was named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after helping the Cougs earn two wins over the week. With a 3-0 victory over San Diego State on Thursday and a 7-0 victory over Hawai’i on Sunday, the Cougs now sit at 3-0-1 on the season.

Rieken scored twice in the game against Hawai’i with the first coming in the 11th minute and the second in the 81st minute. Both goals came off corner kicks and are her first two goals of her career. On top of her two goals, she anchored a defense that allowed just six shots over the week, two of which were on goal.

The two shutouts over the week week helped the Cougar defense keep their shutout streak alive as it now sits at 364 minutes. The only goal their defense has allowed this season came in the 15th minute of their first game against Arkansas State.

Rieken and the Cougs will head back to the field with the goal to keep their streak alive on Thursday when they host Seattle U at 7:00 pm. The game will be streamed on the Washington State athletics site. They will then hit the road for the first of a three game road trip against Kansas on Sunday at 11:00 am in Lawrence, Kansas.
