The effort on Sunday followed a complete-game victory by Zane Mills on Saturday. Mills allowed two runs while striking out 10 in the victory. Mills’ complete game was the first by a WSU pitcher since 2018.

The series victory was a nice rebound for the Cougars after dropping three in a row. WSU now sits at 19-15 on the season. Winning against Cal is no small feat either, as the Bears had taken four straight series from the Cougs prior to Sunday. Winning at Cal is an even bigger feat. Prior to Saturday, the Cougs had not won a game on the road against the Bears since 2015. They wasted no time ensuring they didn’t go in another six-year drought by picking up the win on Sunday.
WSU will get a day off on Monday before traveling to Spokane to play Gonzaga on Tuesday.
