Gardner Minshew heads to Kansas City!

The Pullman to Kansas City pipeline grows stronger.

Good evening, Coug fans!

It’s always nice to keep tabs on where our Pro Cougs end up, and in the case of a select few Washington State Football alumni, that landing pad happens to be the Kansas City Chiefs – or at least it is for Jaylen Watson, Jaden Hicks, and now… Gardner Minshew!

Minshew was released by the Raiders on March 12th, 2025 – but the Coug great wasn’t about to let that keep him down. Just one day later he signed a year long deal with the Chiefs, and will surely be responsible for leading them to a fourth consecutive Super Bowl appearance. Not to jinx it, just to have it in writing that I called it when it happens.

Minshew is no stranger to sliding around the NFL – having been drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019, headed to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2021, the Indianapolis Colts in 2023, and the Raiders in 2024. Fans jokingly speculated (and advocated) for him to make a return to the PNW and head to the Seahawks, but seeing Minshew with familiar faces in Watson and Hicks feels wonderful as well. After all, is Pullman not the Kansas City of the Pacific Northwest?

Best of luck to the newest Chief, and Go Cougs!
