Welcome aboard!

Well, well, well.

On September 23rd, we (I) wrote a whole little article about all the will they or won’t they we’d been seeing online in regards to Washington State, Oregon State, and our precious Pac-12 Conference in their quest to reach the prolific eight team standard to have a viable conference again.

Today, it was announced that Gonzaga is the latest to join the Pac-12.

Sources w/@BonaguraESPN: Gonzaga is set to join the Pac-12 today. An announcement is coming soon.

Looks like the online trolls owe Mr. Brett McMurphy a wee little apology, considering he reported this last week! And we all thought he was crazy. We is me. I didn’t think this would actually happen. But hey! Look at us.

While this technically brings the Pac-12 up to 8 schools, there’s still one little problem. The conference needs eight football teams, and Gonzaga hasn’t had one of those since 1941. Gonzaga undeniably sweetens the pot a little for other potential added members in regards to their high profile basketball programs, though I won’t speculate who because every time I try the internet makes me look like a fool. However, if there’s one thing I know for certain: it appears there’s lots of gears we don’t know abut turning behind the scenes.

As of when this article is being written (7:something in the morning, I am unfortunately on only my first cup of coffee although eager to remedy that ASAP), no official statement has been made from Gonzaga – but one is expected later in the day. We’ll update accordingly!

For now, I leave you with the sentiment of holy crap holy crap holy crap???

Go Cougs! We aren’t dead yet!
