Ol’ Crimson Legendary Lager lets WSU fans support WSU NIL efforts by buying beer

“Sorry honey, I HAVE to buy more beer. I’m helping my school. It’s my responsibility.”

If you’ve ever been to The Coug on a football weekend, you know that Cougar fans love their beer.

If you’ve taken a stroll through the B-Lot tailgater before kickoff in Pullman, you know that Cougar fans love their beer.

If you tried to get a drink at Quixote’s Bar in Auburn, Alabama the night before WSU played the hometown Tigers, you know that Cougar fans love their beer.

Now, Cougar fans can combine their two favorite pastimes — supporting WSU athletes and drinking beer.

On Tuesday, Cougar Collective announced a partnership with Pike Brewing to create a new beer that would support their NIL efforts around WSU athletics. Ol’ Crimson Legendary Lager will hit taps around the Northwest this week, with cans shipping to stores this fall. A portion of the proceeds of all beer sales will go directly to the Cougar Collective to provide NIL support to WSU athletes.

The first bars to receive the beer will be Cougar-owned establishments. Both Marco Polo Bar and Grill in Seattle and the Flatstick Pub chain around Western Washington will have the brew on tap starting next week. According to the Cougar Collective Twitter, the Flatstick Pub in Spokane will follow close behind along with other bars and restaurants. They also expect cans to show up in stores in August or September. For more information on where the will be sold, and how you can carry it in your bar, you can head to the Ol’ Crimson Legendary Lager website.

This could be a major move for WSU’s NIL efforts as they head into an era of the great unknown next season. Because it’s a big deal, they called in a big name to help with the reveal: Gardner Minshew.

The Cougar Collective will be holding release events across the state in the coming months and it starts this weekend. On Friday, there will be samples of the beer at the CougsFirst expo in Bellevue. You can register for free on the event website here. There will also be an event at Marco Polo Bar and Grill in Seattle on Saturday where you can try the beer. The event’s Facebook page promises special guests including the new men’s basketball coaching staff along with Isaiah and Donald Watts.

You probably didn’t need another excuse to buy beer… But if you did — Here it is! As the release video says: “How do we help our teams in these uncharted times? It’s simple. Drink more beer.”

Responsibly. Of course.

‘Ol Crimson Legendary Lager profits benefit Cougar Collective, the Coug NIL community. While other school’s NIL collectives rely on billion dollar donors, we had a better idea; beer!

“Admin, did you make it from the tailgate to the game?”

Admin, surrounded by now empty coolers: “No, I was out here doing CHORES for the STUDENTS while you sat on your rump and watched them WORK.” https://t.co/ULKztTXgVR
