The first of three games today at 5!
Good morning, Coug fans! I hope everyone is gearing up for a great weekend. If you’re reading this, here’s a reminder to take your allergy medicine! The pollen has been hitting me pretty hard, so if spring has sprung where you are, I relate.
Speaking of weekends, our Washington State baseball begins their stretch of games versus Utah today. After Wednesday’s win against Utah Valley 5-3, the gentlemen headed to Salt Lake City.
WSU won the last matchup in 2019 8-4, which is nice. They did lose the two games prior- so let’s focus on the positive. But what can we expect for tonight’s game?
Utah is 7-15 with a 3-6 record in the Pac 12. Christopher Rowan Jr. is Utah’s home run leader, he’s had 4 this season. Matt Richardson has also upped his season average at bat to a .344 with an OPS at .851.
As for pitchers, Matthew Sox has the most wins on their team and the lowest opposing at bat number, coming in at .184. However, it’s looking like he’s a new addition to the team, and hasn’t played much with Utah before some stand out performances.
Utah’s last game against Dixie State was a blowout, Utah won 16-3. Randon Hostert pitched the first few innings and had three strikeouts, and Utah rotated pitchers who would do the same for the rest of the game.
Overall, I think this could be a really interesting game! WSU will need a bit of fight this weekend. You can find the stream through the Pac 12 live stream, the Utah channel specifically, at 5 pm today! Go Cougs!
