WSU soccer succeeds over San Diego State

And gear up to host University of Hawaii on Sunday.

Good afternoon, Coug fans!

Last night your Washington State Cougars Soccer team had a big night for their first road game of the season. The Cougs defeated a scoreless San Diego State 3-0, and quite a game it was.

Let’s recap!

Unsurprisingly, star Sydney Studer was selected player of the match for her opening goal of the game, and her first goal as a Coug. A monumental moment, watch it below if you’d like!

After Studer’s goal, WSU held the lead at 1-0 through the half, with great scoring attempts by Enzi Broussard and Jayla Land, to no avail. Broussard would continue through the game to provide 4 shots, 3 on goal, and an assist!

But soon junior Grayson Lynch would make her first breakthrough and first goal of the night- followed two minutes later by her second goal of the night! Her first goal was incredible, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t show you her second:

Another unsurprising star was Elyse Bennett, who took three shots of her own and made an assist. Once again, the Cougs capitalized on teamwork and a subtly weakening defense, and pushed on to victory. If this game doesn’t get you excited for Sunday, I don’t know what will. Now Cougs, I understand a few of you might be in town for a separate event, but since you’ll be in the neighborhood, may I suggest swinging by the old Lower Soccer Field? At 1pm!

If you’re like me and experiencing major FOMO from this weekend, there will of course be a livestream that you can find here: https://pac-12.com/live/washington-state-university

Let’s ride this momentum and pull two more wins out this weekend! Go Cougs!
