Biiiiiiig day!!!

Good afternoon, Coug fans!

It’s a big day to be a big fan of the Washington State University Tennis team, as they just dominated the NIT Championship! WSU took down University of North Carolina Charlotte, ranked 48th at the time, mind you, in a steady 4-0 victory.

For the singles matches, the Cougs saw big performances from Eva Alvarez Sande (junior), Hania Abouelsaad (red shirt senior), and Chisato Kanemaki (freshman). Alvarez Sande handled her last two sets, defeating her opponent 6-1. Abouelsaad also swept with a 6-0 and a 6-3, and Kanemaki had the reverse with a 6-3 and 6-0 victory.

On the doubles side, Alvarez Sande paired with Maxine Murphy (redshirt junior) proved to be a lethal combo, winning 6-2. Abouelsaad was joined by Martina Puvill (freshman), and they also won 6-2.

This not only marks the first postseason tournament victory for the program, but also brought them 20-8 on the season!

Go Cougs!
