The school announced that, immediately, mask requirements will be in effect for football games as well.
The move isn’t terrible surprising but it has finally happened: the Washington State Cougars announced today that proof of a COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test within 72 hours would be required to attend home football games beginning in October. The Washington Huskies, Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Sounders FC, Seattle Mariners and Seattle Kraken all announced similar policies today.
Like those teams, WSU’s policy applies to everyone over the age of 12. More immediately, the school also announced masks will be required for football games moving forward, beginning with this Saturday’s matchup against the Portland State Vikings.
The school’s announcement did not indicate if either requirement will also extend to home volleyball and soccer matches, both of whom will be at home prior to the beginning of October.
The release from the school was fairly sparse on details for how they’ll handle this moving forward. For instance, UW’s announcement included stations to have your vaccination status approved for the entire season. WSU will have the benefit of having more time to work the details out though as they have home games the next two weekends then spend three weeks away from home.
