Al Michaels has been calling games for a long time. Still, he’s not above having some fun on the broadcast, even if it’s at a player’s expense.
In the first quarter of tonight’s Thursday Night Football matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks, Michaels threw a friendly barb at Cowboys defensive back DaRon Bland after he was toasted for a touchdown by DK Metcalf.
“So Daron Bland just got Defensive Player of the Month for November, but obviously, the voters didn’t count November 30,” Michaels quipped after the play.

All jokes aside, Bland more than deserved the award. The second-year cornerback has been outstanding all season and set an NFL record on Thanksgiving with his fifth pick-6 of the year.
“We all are not only impressed by what he’s doing, his work ethic. We’re impressed with how sound he is when he’s not making those interceptions,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said of Bland recently. “He’s playing really sound football back there. It would have been beyond our expectation or dream for him to step up the way he has. It’s inspirational. Just like Micah [Parsons]. That’s an inspirational situation to the other players on all sides of the ball.”
The Cowboys currently lead the Seahawks 10-7 on Amazon Prime Video.
