This offseason’s standoff between Jamal Adams and the Seattle Seahawks has finally come to an end. On Tuesday, the All-Pro agreed to terms on a massive four-year extension.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport was first to report the new extension for Adams. It’s a four-year deal that is worth $70 million, which includes $38 million guaranteed.
“The Seahawks have agreed to terms on a large extension for star S Jamal Adams, a 4-year, $70M deal that makes him the league’s highest paid safety, I’m told,” Rapoport tweeted. “He gets $38M guaranteed, breaking the stalemate. A long time coming and well-deserved.”
Last month, Rapoport said the Seahawks were willing to make Adams the highest-paid safety in the NFL. This contract certainly proves that, as Adams will now make more money per year than Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons.

There were some concerns that Seattle would have to use the franchise tag on Adams next season, but those concerns have been officially put to rest. Additionally, the Seahawks don’t have to worry about Adams’ contract situation causing any issues during the regular season.
In his first year with the Seahawks, Adams had 83 total tackles, 14 quarterback hits, 11 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, three passes defended and a forced fumble.
Seattle is hoping Adams can replicate that production this upcoming season, especially now that it has invested even more money in him.
