Two Seahawks who are likely to make the 53-man roster will be returning to practice soon.

Running back Travis Homer and rookie wide receiver D’Wayne Eskridge, who have been dealing with calf and toe injuries, respectively, will be returning next week according to head coach Pete Carroll. The two have been on the PUP list for the majority of training camp.

Homer, now in his third season out of Miami, will be competing for a spot in a crowded backfield that includes players like Alex Collins, DeeJay Dallas, and Josh Johnson.

And while the running back battle is certainly interesting, it likely won’t have the same impact on the offense that the battle for the third receiver will. Eskridge is right in the thick of this battle with Freddie Swain and Penny Hart, both of whom have been standouts at camp.

Homer dealt with a number of nagging injuries last year, and Eskridge has had a toe problem during the entire offseason, so here’s to hoping that they’ll stay healthy through their preseason appearances and well into the regular season.
