DK Metcalf’s No. 14 has been quickly reassigned

Prior to introducing the new free agents, the Seahawks have revealed which addition will wear the number 14 jersey.

The free agency activity has momentarily slowed down for the Seattle Seahawks, with no big signings as of yet on Thursday.

John Schneider is set to hold a press conference this afternoon, alongside at least Sam Darnold, to introduce him and recount the early days of the offseason.

Online, the team has already introduced the new quarterback in his “new number.”

The video reads 1 for a full 10 seconds before adding the second digit. It’s #14.

So good new all you DK Metcalf jersey owners! It’s repurpose season. Get your masking tape and sharpies.

Not sure what the thinking behind the odd reveal was, because Darnold has actually worn #14 for his entire career. From the New York Jets until now, he’s never had to change.

Darnold now joins Metcalf and the great punter Rick Tuten as worthy wearers of jersey number 14.

BONUS: For any that might have missed it, George Pickens already wears 14 for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and no news has come out yet as to which wide receiver will make a change, although I’m sure that will be settled amicably and without resentment.

Just 2 very level headed dudes having a cordial conversation. https://t.co/22LvnAdPk9
