Veteran quarterback Geno Smith has signed new contract with the Seattle Seahawks. Smith has spent the last four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks.

Geno Smith Signs New Contract With Seattle Seahawks
After spending several years as a backup, Geno Smith had the best season of his career by a long shot. Becoming the starter for the Seahawks after Russell Wilson was traded, Smith passed for 4,282 yards, 30 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and had one rushing touchdown. He helped his team squeak into the playoffs, making his first playoff appearance. He also was the league leader in completion percentage (69.8%) and got his first Pro Bowl nod.
Smith played college ball with West Virginia, getting Second-Team and First-team All-Big East nods in 2010 and 2011, respectively. He was drafted by the New York Jets in the second round in 2013. He struggled heavily his rookie year, passing for 12 touchdowns and 21 interceptions with six rushing touchdowns. His 2014 season was marginally better as he passed for 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He lost the starting job in 2015 after a preseason injury to Ryan Fitzpatrick and never regained it fully. He got an isolated start in 2016 before his time with the Jets ended.
Smith signed with the New York Giants in 2017 and made one start for them after Ben McAdoo made the controversial decision to start him over Eli Manning midway through the season; however, it only lasted the one week. He was with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2018 and then joined the Seahawks in 2019. After the Giants stint, he did not get another starting opportunity until 2021 when Wilson was hurt and Smith started three games in his absence. He passed for five touchdowns and one interception during that time frame. Following his massive 2022 season, he will be looking to continue his resurgence in 2023.
Thus far in his career, Geno Smith has 11,199 passing yards, 64 touchdowns, 48 interceptions, and nine rushing touchdowns.
