Geno Smith exited Monday night’s game after an awkward sideline tackle.
During the second quarter of Monday night’s game, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback caught a pass from himself deflected at the line of scrimmage. New York Giants defender Isaiah Simmons landed on Smith’s legs while dragging him down out of bounds.
An incensed Smith had a heated exchange with Giants safety Xavier McKinney after the play.

Smith stayed in for one more play before Seattle punted, but Drew Lock replaced him on the ensuing drive. Kenneth Walker III scored a one-yard touchdown after Noah Fant turned a short checkdown into a 51-yard gain.
Another tussle between the Giants and Seahawks unfolded after Walker’s score. Each team received offsetting unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Smith is questionable to return with a knee injury.
Years removed from a starting job, Smith exceeded all expectations by tallying 4,282 passing yards and 30 touchdowns in 2022. He was in the midst of an encore this fall.
Smith entered Monday night with a 98.2 quarterback rating. He completed nine of 11 passes for 67 yards and a touchdown to D.K. Metcalf before exiting the game.
The Seahawks are up 14-3, but losing Smith for a prolonged period would be a major blow.
