With their season effectively over after yesterday’s loss to the Jets, the New York Giants are ready to start offloading players in preparation for 2024 and beyond.

According to NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, the Giants are sending Pro Bowl defensive lineman Leonard Williams to the Seattle Seahawks. In exchange, the Giants are receiving a 2024 second-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick from Seattle.

Williams has been largely ineffective for the Giants this season, recording 21 tackles and 1.5 sacks through eight games. The versatile defensive end and defensive tackle has 10.5 sacks over the last three years and missed five games in 2022.

Most fans on social media are chalking this up as a win for the Seahawks, who now get some reinforcements on the defensive line as they vie for the top seed in the NFC. But the Giants are also getting tons of props for getting a big return on a player who can’t help them moving forward:

“Great move by the Seahawks! Adding Leonard Williams to their DL will definitely strengthen their defense for the upcoming seasons,” one user replied.

“Schoen w,” another wrote, referring to Giants general manager Joe Schoen. “Year is going no where. A 2nd and a 5th for a free agent is massive.

“seahawks got a top 7 defense in the league,” a third declared.

Who do you think won this trade?
