The Seahawks exited the draft with more picks than they entered with.
The Seattle Seahawks leaned heavily into focusing on the offense in this year’s NFL Draft.
Having started the draft with 10 picks, several trades resulted in the Seahawks actually gaining a pick and wrapping up with 11. They started the draft by addressing the offensive line and taking North Dakota State’s Grey Zabel at No. 18 overall. Their adventurous Day 2 saw safety Nick Emmanwori head to Seattle after a trade up to No. 35. They ended Day 2 by selecting Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe.
Day 3 began with the Seahawks trading out of Round 4 and into the early portion of Round 5 to get Notre Dame defensive tackle Rylie Mills. Their No. 144 pick was traded to the Cleveland Browns, who ended Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders’ agonizing wait for selection. Meanwhile, the Seahawks wrapped up their fifth round by getting speedy Colorado State wide receiver Tory Horton and Alabama fullback Robbie Ouzts.
The fun continued with the Seahawks landing Kansas offensive lineman Bryce Cabeldue with the sixth-rounder they received from the Browns. A trio of seventh-round selections started with hard-running Miami running back Damien Martinez, continued with Iowa offensive lineman Mason Richman, and wrapped up with UNLV receiver and special teams star Ricky White III.
A whopping nine picks were used on offense. The Seahawks have never done this in the seven-round draft era and haven’t invested this much into offense through the draft since 1981.
