Injury Update: John Ursua carted off the field

NFL: San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

It’s not even halftime of the preseason Week 2 game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos, and I’m already tired of writing injury updates. The game started off with linebacker Ben Burr-Kirven being carted off after hyperextending his knee on the opening kickoff, and then just before the two minute warning wide receiver John Ursua was carted off.

The cart is coming out for WR John Ursua and much of the Seahawks’ bench is heading onto the field to give him well-wishes.

Ursua, of course, was one of several names in the competition for the final wide receiver spots on the roster. A third year pro who spent the 2019 season on the 53 man roster before spending 2020 on the practice squad, it appeared as though trainers were evaluating Ursua’s knee before he was taken off the field. If it proves to be a serious injury for Ursua, it would not be the first, as he tore the ACL in his right knee midway through his 2017 season in college at Hawaii.

In addition to Ursua being carted off, Aaron Fuller was taken to the injury tent for evaluation after taking a hard hit on a reception over the middle.

John Ursua down on the field and Aaron Fuller in the injury tent. Not a good day for Seattle on that front so far.
