Marshawn Lynch played for the Seattle Seahawks from midway through the 2010 season through 2015 before a one-game return to the franchise in 2019.
The entire time he was with Seattle, Lynch played under Pete Carroll, and he was a teammate of Russell Wilson’s from 2012-15 and during that 2019 cameo.
As many years as he spent alongside those men, Lynch did not become close with either one of them. During an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast, Lynch was asked for his opinion as to why Carroll and Wilson’s relationship disintegrated the way it did.
“I wouldn’t be the right person to speak on that relationship, because I didn’t f–k with them,” Lynch said. “I didn’t f–k with Pete. Russ was just a quarterback for me.”

It might seem jarring to hear Lynch say this, but then again, it’s also not that surprising to know that his relationship with Wilson was strictly professional and he and Carroll weren’t buddy-buddy either.
Whether the latter has anything to do with the Seahawks’ fateful decision to throw the ball near the goal line in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots is up for anyone’s guess.
