A lot of people were left very dissatisfied with the officiating in last night’s game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Dallas Cowboys. We can now count Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll as one of them.
A total of 25 flags were thrown in the 41-35 Cowboys win, 19 of which were accepted, for 257 yards in total – a season-high. It got so bad that even Amazon Prime broadcaster Al Michaels started getting upset with the officiating.
So after the game, Carroll did his best to express his displeasure without directly accusing the referees of anything that would get him into trouble. He called it “unfortunate” to see so many penalties.
“It’s unfortunate. It feels like there’s a whole other factor in this game,” Carroll said. “I don’t know. You guys saw it a lot better than I did, but there were just way too many penalties in this game from both sides, and we’ve got to get out of that kind of football.”

If it’s any consolation to Pete Carroll, the Dallas Cowboys were just as displeased by the officiating as he was. They were called for nine penalties that cost them 127 yards on the day.
All in all, just a frustrating game in what was otherwise a great shootout performance.
