Seahawks starting center Ethan Pocic has been dealing with a hamstring injury for most of the preseason, giving backup players the opportunity to take snaps at the position. While Kyle Fuller seems to have been the clear-cut second man in line behind Pocic, the Seahawks threw another name into the mix at practice Wednesday, with guard/center Phil Haynes getting some reps with the first team in a number of drills.
A couple interesting position things: Phil Haynes got the most work I’ve seen him get in camp in live drills at center; and L.J. Collier seemed to have a really good day, including a sack of Wilson in a team drill. Got a hearty fist bump from GM John Schneider as he left field.

The 2019 fourth-round draft pick played sparingly for Seattle, appearing in just two games last year and not playing any regular season snaps as a rookie. Injuries have largely prevented Haynes from showing what he’s capable of on the offensive line.
Carroll has said that Pocic will miss Saturday’s game against Las Vegas, so Haynes figures to get some snaps regardless of whether or not he plays with the first team against the Raiders. In fact, a number of reserves along the offensive line will likely see more time than they might have this weekend had Pocic and tackle Cedric Ogbuehi not been injured. Keep an eye out for Haynes and other potential depth pieces along the line when you watch the game Saturday.
