It has been a week jam packed full of news for the Seattle Seahawks. With the 2021 season rapidly approaching, the Hawks, along with the rest of the NFL, first had to trim the roster down from 80 players to 53, and as has become the norm under Pete Carroll and John Schneider, that was just the beginning.

As always, the Hawks used the waiver wire to add a couple of names that likely weren’t on the radar of many fans in Dakoda Shepley and Nigel Warrior. Those additions required the team to create space on the roster, which they did through the release of Sean Mannion and by waiving Phil Haynes on Wednesday. Haynes cleared waivers on Thursday, meaning he was an unrestricted free agent able to sign with any team, but late Friday a report emerged that he’d be come back to Seattle.

So, just as many fans had hoped after what had been a strong showing in training camp and the preseason, Haynes will stay with the Hawks as a member of the practice squad.
