The schedule is out! How will the Seahawks do?
With the schedule finally here, the 2025 NFL season feels just that much closer. As the Seattle Seahawks released their schedule in an “action packed” way, it didn’t take long for the fans and media to begin clashing on how they feel the Seahawks will do this year.
With so much change to the roster and coaching staff, combined with a unique schedule that sees Seattle facing both the AFC and NFC South, it is not hard to find a wide range of record predictions for the Seahawks. I’ve seen everything from 4-13 to 13-4, it truly is that wide between the believers and those that clamor for Geno Smith and DK Metcalf.
With that being said, I figured I’d take a crack at how I think Seattle’s season will go in 2025.
Week 1: Home vs San Francisco 49ers
This game reminds me so much of the 2023 home opener against the Rams. There was so much hype about the Seahawks, while the Rams were in an apparent rebuild. Abe Lucas and Charles Cross both got injured and Seattle was embarrassed 30-13. I believe there’s enough mystery with the new look Seahawks offense, and Macdonald continues to put the clamps on Kyle Shanahan’s offense.
Seahawks get the victory in what might be a must win game, even in week one.
Seahawks win 23-17 (1-0)
Week 2: Away at Pittsburgh Steelers
I’m going to go ahead and project that Aaron Rodgers will be Pittsburgh’s signal caller in 2025. While I have a lot of questions about what he has left in the tank, and his questionable fit with DK Metcalf, this is still a tough first road game against a championship level defense.
Sam Darnold takes his first lumps, while the Steelers do just enough for the win.
Seahawks lose 23-19 (1-1)
Week 3: Home vs New Orleans Saints
After two weeks of up and down offensive play, Kubiak and Darnold begin to hit their stride, as the offense cooks against the worst team in the NFL.
Seahawks win 34-10 (2-1)
Week 4: Away at Arizona Cardinals (TNF)
Offensive momentum continues into the desert, as Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp start to to turn into one of the best WR duos in the NFL.
Seahawks win 26-14 (3-1)
Week 5: Home vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
While the Lions, Eagles and Commanders are getting all the attention, people tend to forget about Tampa Bay as a contender. As long as Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans are healthy, the Bucs are a true threat to win the NFC in my opinion.
Seattle finds this out the hard way, as Tampa walks off the ‘Hawks in a potential playoff preview.
Seahawks lose 27-24 (3-2)
Week 6: Away at Jacksonville Jaguars
Traveling across the country for a 10am game is usually a recipe for an upset, and while the Jags appear to be more competent with immediate star two-way sensation Travis Hunter, Seattle escapes “Duvaaaaaal” with another road victory.
Seahawks win 28-20 (4-2)
Week 7: Home vs Houston Texans (MNF)
The last time the Seahawks and Texans met in Seattle, we saw an epic duel between Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson. This time, we see the first real glimpse of the Jalen Milroe effect, as he and Kenneth Walker run all over Houston’s defense for the primetime victory, heading into the bye on a high note.
Seahawks win 31-23 (5-2)
Week 8: Bye
Week 9: Away at Washington Commanders (SNF)
It’s hard to find a team with more buzz coming into 2025 the Washington Commanders. The Jayden Daniels hype is at an all-time high, and for the first time in over 30 years, a Super Bowl feels realistic in DC. Even with the bye, this will be a difficult challenge for Seattle against a really good team. I expect the Seahawks to be down big early, but battle back to make it respectable.
Seahawks lose 34-21 (5-3)
Week 10: Home vs Arizona Cardinals
After a disappointing loss, the Seahawks go on a run here, and it starts with a comfortable home victory over the Cardinals. It was evident last year the Macdonald has the Cardinals figured out, and until proven wrong, I expect Seattle to continue to suffocate Arizona’s offense.
Seahawks win 24-10 (6-3)
Week 11: Away at Los Angeles Rams
It’s unusual to not see a divisional rival until Week 11, but that could be advantageous for the Seahawks this season against the reigning NFC West champs. The Rams team has a lot of talent, but also has a lot of age and health question marks. Seeing them in the middle of November, I’m not confident that Stafford and the Rams will be healthy or as much of a darling as they are right now. This team was very lucky to win the West last year, and the Seahawks benefit from a road game in November in Los Angeles.
Seahawks win 17-9 (7-3)
Week 12: Away at Tennessee Titans
Another potential trap game before the Seahawks have a massive home game, the offense comes through again in Nashville as Seattle overwhelms a Titans team that would have the number one pick in the draft again, if not for Cam Ward carrying this team to four wins.
Seahawks win 38-17 (8-3)
Week 13: Home vs Minnesota Vikings
Sam Darnold against the Vikings, arguably one of the best storyline games of the season. Were the Vikings right in not paying Darnold and handing the keys of the offense to JJ McCarthy? Was John Schneider right believing in Sam Darnold to replace Geno Smith? We should have a clearer picture by the time this post-Thanksgiving matchup takes place.
A classic last year where Seattle came up just short, this time their defense continues to roll and Darnold outplays McCarthy, pushing the win streak to four games.
Seahawks win 28-20 (9-3)
Week 14: Away vs Atlanta Falcons
If Atlanta doesn’t shock the world (again) at the 2024 NFL Draft, I still believe that the Seahawks would have drafted Michael Penix Jr. Instead, he lights up Seattle in Week 14 to end the four game winning streak.
Sitting at 9-4, the Seahawks still have a path to a division title with the final four games left to play.
Seahawks lose 26-21 (9-4)
Week 15: Home vs Indianapolis Colts
Back home for the final two home games of the regular season, Seattle dismantles the Indianapolis Colts, who end up with the number two overall pick in the upcoming draft. Keep an eye on DeForest Buckner as a potential trade candidate when the season gets away from the Colts.
Seahawks win 24-9 (10-4)
Week 16: Home vs Rams
Could this be the last time we see Matthew Stafford in Seattle? A disappointing season for the Rams leads to this Thursday Night Football game being the final nail in their postseason coffin. The bitterness of giving the division away last year won’t fade easily, but eliminating the Rams from the playoffs in 2025 is a nice consolation.
Bold Prediction: Cooper Kupp catches two touchdowns in the game, and cements his Seahawks legacy on TNF, as Seattle officially clinches a playoff berth.
Seahawks win 27-17 (11-4)
Week 17: Away vs Carolina Panthers
The loss to Atlanta stings, but it helps refocus the Seahawks as they head back out to the Southeast for another trap game against Carolina and little Bryce Young. Dave Canales is a good coach, and the Panthers defense should make them more competitive in 2025, but the Seahawks get a walkoff field goal from Jason Myers.
Seahawks win 16-14 (12-4)
Week 18: Away at San Francisco 49ers
Heading into the final week of the season, the Seahawks and 49ers will have their game flexed to Sunday Night Football, as both squads will be 12-4 and in the hunt for a top two seed and the NFC West crown.
In a season that feels now or never for San Francisco, I do think they will find a way to prevail at home, clinching the NFC West and top overall seed in the NFC.
Seahawks lose 23-20 (12-5)
Finishing at 12-5, the Seahawks have a tremendous season in year two under Mike Macdonald and new OC Klint Kubiak. The Seahawks, in this scenario would likely be the 5th or 6th seed in the playoffs, but the future looks extremely bright moving forward.
