Jason Peters is back for another NFL run.
His agency, Elite Royalty Sports, announced that the 41-year-old offensive tackle signed a contract with the Seattle Seahawks. They credited Peters as the longest-tenured offensive lineman in NFL history.
Since entering the league in 2004, Peters has made nine Pro Bowls with two All-Pro nods. He’s played 238 games, including 148 with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2009 to 2020.
Peters joined his longtime NFC East rival last season, signing with the Dallas Cowboys to replace the injured Tyron Smith. He once again found a new home in September to help a depleted offensive line.
Both of Seattle’s starting tackles left Week 1’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams early. Charles Cross is dealing with a turf toe, and right tackle Abe Lucas injured his knee.
Cross and Lucas are uncertain for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions, but Peters likely won’t slide into Seattle’s lineup so soon. When reporting his scheduled visit Monday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said Peters would start on the practice squad before working his way to on-field action.
Peters followed that trajectory last season, sitting two games before joining Dallas in Week 3. He wound up playing 13 games, including nearly half of the offense’s snaps in a first-round playoff win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
