Seahawks claim Dakoda Shepley and Nigel Warrior off waivers

Tuesday teams across the NFL were required to reduce their rosters down to 53 players, and the result was several hundred players hitting waivers. As the Seattle Seahawks under Pete Carroll and John Schneider have shown in their decade with the team, the Hawks will explore every opportunity to improve the roster.

In seasons past the Hawks have used the waiver wire to add names such as running back Mike Davis, wide receiver Josh Gordon, offensive lineman Justin Simmons and outside linebacker D’Andre Walker to the roster.

With the dust having settled on the claims submitted by teams for the players who were waived in recent days, the Seahawks will need to make another move in order to accommodate one more player.

Dakoda Shepley is an offensive linemen who originally signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2018, but failed to make the roster before playing in the Canadian Football League in 2018 and 2019. He is an athletic lineman who entered the league as a guard, but played tackle for the San Francisco 49ers in his only regular season experience during the 2020 season.

In addition, the Hawks added yet another defensive back, adding Nigel Warrior off the waiver wire after he had been let go by the Baltimore Ravens. Undrafted out of Tennessee in 2020, Warrior spent the entirety of his rookie season on the practice squad for the Ravens.
