The Seattle Seahawks have taken care of Jamal Adams’ contract situation this week, signing the All-Pro safety to a four-year, $70 million extension. Obviously, that’s great news for the franchise, but there’s more work that needs to be done.
Seahawks left tackle Duane Brown hasn’t been participating in practice this month because he’s seeking a new deal. It’s an issue that has to get addressed fairly soon if the team wants Brown out there for Week 1.
Even though Seattle fans should be celebrating Adams’ contract extension this Tuesday, they can’t help but worry about how this Brown standoff will play out.
“Glad we can stop worrying about Jamal Adams’ contract so we can squarely focus our worry on Duane Brown’s contract,” Field Gulls of SB Nation tweeted.

Some fans, however, are cautiously optimistic that Seattle will keep this positive momentum going and strike a deal with Brown.
“Jamal Adams signs. Next up is Duane Brown and the Seahawks are in the clear,” a Seahawks fan wrote. “Keep this momentum rolling baby!”

Regardless of which side of the fence Seahawks fans are on, it’s very clear that Brown’s contract situation will be heavily discussed over the next few days.

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson already let his voice be heard about this topic. He wants Brown to be a part of the franchise for years to come.
“Not having Duane Brown out there is a pretty significant deal because I think he’s one of the best left tackles in the game, there’s no arguing it,” Wilson said, via ESPN. “I think he’s as good as it gets. There’s nobody more athletic, more talented than he is. Age is just a number. He looks like he’s 28-30 out there. He’s really exceptional. So smart and physical, understands the game, and I think people fear him, to be honest with you, when they’re rushing him and playing against him.”
One thing is certain: The clock is ticking for the Seahawks to sign Brown to an extension.
