The Seattle Seahawks acquired a defensive back who is plenty familiar with the Pacific Northwest from the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night.
The Jaguars sent cornerback Sidney Jones to the Seahawks, according to ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter. Jones already has plenty of fans in Seattle. He was a star for the Washington Huskies from 2014-to-2016. It’s only fitting he’s heading back to the area.
The Philadelphia Eagles took Jones with the No. 43 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He spent three years in Philly before joining Jacksonville for the 2020 season. In 31 career games, 14 of which he started in, Jones has 76 tackles and four interceptions.
The former Washington star now heads to Seattle where he figures to be a contributor for the Seahawks defense this upcoming season.

The Jaguars, meanwhile, are getting a sixth-round pick from the Seahawks in return, per NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

Sidney Jones’ one year with the Jaguars was actually the best of his career. He played in just nine games, making six starts, but made the most of the opportunity. Jones had 26 tackles and two picks during that span.
The Seahawks should benefit from the Jones acquisition. He was slotted as a backup cornerback in Jacksonville and was bound to get plenty of playing time. He should see the field just as much in Seattle.
Jones’ reunion with the Pacific Northwest is a pretty awesome storyline. He was sensational for the Washington Huskies years ago. The Seahawks are hoping he’ll provide a similar impact for them this upcoming season.
