Tuesday the Seattle Seahawks trimmed the roster from 80 players down to 53, and in doing so left fans and observers confused as to why the team had kept the number of players it did at several position groups. In particular, the team retained 11 offensive linemen and just four wide receivers, leaving fans scratching their heads.

Now, however, it appears that the dust has settled, as the Seahawks have moved swing tackle Cedric Ogbuehi to injured reserve.

The #Seahawks will place OT Cedric Ogbuehi on Injured Reserve, source said, as he nurses a strained biceps injury. Ogbuehi should be ready to go when he’s eligible to return in Week 4.

So, the mystery of the extra offensive linemen is now solved. Rather than having 11 offensive linemen on the 53 man roster, the Hawks now have ten, however, more than half of those are tackles. Duane Brown and Brandon Shell are the presumed starters, though it will be interesting to see how things play out if depth is needed. In particular, will the team turn to fourth year man Jamarco Jones, or would it look to the two rookies in Stone Forsythe or Jake Curhan.

In any case, Ogbuehi is eligible to return from injured reserve prior to the Week 4 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
