The Seattle Seahawks have a lot of depth at numerous positions heading into the 2021 season. But an injury to one potential breakout player could damage their TE depth.
According to Adam Jude of The Seattle Times, Seahawks TE Colby Parkinson will be out “for an extended stretch” after suffering a broken foot. Worse still, it’s an injury to the same area where he suffered damage last year.
Parkinson had been enjoying a very solid training camp so far. While not the starter, there was buzz that the former fourth round pick would have much great contributions than last year.
In 2020, Parkinson was limited to just six games and less than 100 snaps all year. He finished the season with two receptions for 16 yards.
Seahawks TE Colby Parkinson is out for an extended stretch with a broken foot — same spot he injured last summer. Big hit for Seattle’s depth at what was a position of strength. Parkinson was a breakout player in the first two weeks of training camp.

At Stanford, Colby Parkinson was a star, recording 87 receptions for 1,171 yards and 12 touchdowns in three years. He earned All-Pac-12 honors in 2019 and was the eighth tight end selected in the 2020 NFL Draft.
But an injury at the start of training camp forced him onto the reserve/non-football injury list to start the season. He was activated off the list on October 31, 2020 and saw progressively more action as the year went on.
The Seahawks’ starter for the upcoming season will likely be Will Dissly. But they could use some more depth with how good the defenses in the NFC West are getting this year.
Hopefully Parkinson makes a full recovery and can contribute to the Seahawks this coming season.
