Seattle Seahawks rookie cornerback Tre Brownwill not be available for the team’s regular season opener against the Indianapolis Colts. Pete Carroll revealed on August 28th that Brown’s “knee soreness” was a mild knee sprain, but at the time he was confident he’d be ready to go for Week 1.

Well as of September 6th, it looks like that knee sprain will sideline him for multiple weeks.

I think you all should know by now that Carroll’s injury timelines tend to skew towards overly optimistic. When he says someone has a “legit” injury then you know it’s long-term and very serious.
Seattle only drafted three players this year and two of them have already had issues staying healthy. Top pick Dee Eskridge battled a toe injury that kept him out of much of training camp, but he was able to heal up in time to practice and play the preseason finale.
As of this article’s 7 AM PT publish time, Seattle has not removed a player from the active roster to make room for former New York Jets cornerback Bless Austin. I suppose one option for the Seahawks is to put Brown on injured reserve and he’d miss a minimum of three games thanks to the modified rules. Whatever the case, Brown’s regular season Seahawks debut will have to wait awhile.
