The Seattle Seahawks decided to keep their 2nd round pick and with the 56th selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, they picked D’Wayne Eskridge, a wide receiver from Western Michigan. Here are some of the reactions around Twitter after the Seahawks made their first selection of the draft, starting with the tweet from the Seahawks announcing the pick.

The best reaction of the pick was from Eskridge himself, as it appears that he texted a friend saying that he was hoping to go to the Seahawks, and the friend took a screenshot of the conversation and D’Wayne posted it on Twitter.

And for the analysis on the pick, starting with Field Gulls own John P. Gilbert.
Eskridge is certainly built like the players the Seahawks have used in the slot in the past, but over the past three seasons he lined up outside on more than 89% of his snaps. https://t.co/c6fHUPxRGr

the Seahawks receiving group is now very, very, very, very—pauses, hoping protection holds up long enough for them to get downfield—fast

D’Wayne Eskridge is 24 years old.

Eskridge just turned 24 last month, but also DK Metcalf is only 23 years old in comparison.
D’Wayne Eskridge had more yards after the catch on slants (210) than any college receiver not named DeVonta Smith had total yards on slants in 2020

These are the receivers Pete Carroll and John Schneider have drafted in the second round:
Golden Tate (2010)
Paul Richardson (2014)
DK Metcalf (2019)
D’Wayne Eskridge (2021)

I’ve been stressing the Seahawks need better team speed at both ends. Eskridge fits the bill on offense and especially if Waldron incorporates a lot of McVay concepts. #NFLDraft

WR D’Wayne Eskridge brings elite speed, playmaking ability and is electric as a return specialist which was important to the Seahawks to address this season!

Everything I’m reading/seeing about D’Wayne Eskridge makes me feel like he’s a wonderful complement to DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
Get him in space, let him work horizontally, utilize his speed in different ways, etc.
