Eventually, the Seahawks will be sold. That being said, the fan base may have to wait a few more years before their team gets a new owner.
If the Seahawks are sold before next May, 10 percent of the proceeds would go to the state of Washington. That’s due to a previous deal that funded the franchise’s stadium, Lumen Field.
With that said, Mark Maske of The Washington Post is reporting that a sale isn’t expected to happen until 2025 at the earliest.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk provided an explanation on why waiting to sell could be the best thing for the Seahawks.
Here’s an important reason to wait. As recently explained, the league’s current exploration of changes to the ownership rules could help drive up sales prices. So why not let that play out? If the NFL will be relaxing certain aspects that are making it harder to get maximum bidders and, in turn, maximum value, why not wait for the league to devise and implement those revisions?
