NHL Predictions: Nov. 13 w/ Colorado Avalanche vs Seattle Kraken

November 13, 2023 by Last Word On Hockey

Bowen Byram contract; NHL Predictions

Welcome back to another day of NHL Predictions. Each day, Last Word on Hockey takes a look at the games that are happening and gives our predictions for each one, breaking down head-to-head and other factors that may play in. We also have a featured game of the day, which is considered must-watch TV. Today’s featured game is the Colorado Avalanche vs Seattle Kraken. Be sure to check out more NHL predictions in the coming days.

NHL Predictions

New York Islanders vs Edmonton Oilers

Head-to-Head: Islanders 0-0 Oilers

TV: MSGSN; Sportnet

Our opening game of NHL predictions has the reeling Edmonton Oilers taking on the New York Islanders. The Isles will likely go with Ilya Sorokin in between the pipes. However, always check social media before locking in a fantasy starer. New York is on a four-game losing streak. The Islanders have been struggling to put the puck in the net so far this season as they’re 30th in goals for. However Sorokin can turn his form around and steal a game if need be.

The Oilers will have a new bench boss in Kris Knoblauch, who replaces Jay Woodcroft. Edmonton did score a win over Seattle on Saturday at Climate Pledge Arena. However, the decision to axe Woodcroft seemed to have already been made. Knoblauch is Connor McDavid‘s old coach from the Erie Otters of the OHL. There’s hope that some chemistry could be sparked again. Stuart Skinner will likely get the call in the crease for the Oilers.

One would expect Edmonton to come out to a new coach bump. However, the Islanders are a veteran team and should get the win.

Prediction: Islanders win 3-2.

Colorado Avalanche vs Seattle Kraken

Head-t0-Head: Avalanche 1-1 Kraken

TV: Altitude; Root Sports Northwest

Our final and featured game is the third and final meeting of the season between the two teams. Alexandar Georgiev is the likely starter in net for the Avalanche, who got blown out last time against the St. Louis Blues. Colorado is still paced by Mikko Rantanen nine goals and Cale Makar (12), but need some help from the rest of the supporting cast. Colorado’s offence is capable of putting up some big numbers, but it needs to see some goals coming from alternate sources.

The Kraken have lost three of its last five like the Avalanche have. Philipp Grubauer is the projected starter in goal for the Kraken. Seattle did beat Colorado, 4-3, in the teams last meeting on November 9. Jaden Schwartz leads the team in goals with eight while Vince Dunn is tops in assists with 11. The Kraken have managed to pick up the goal-scoring pace after some early-season struggles.

Colorado is looking to get the sour taste of last game out of its mouth. The Avs have struggled at times in Seattle, but get the job done here.

Prediction: Avalanche win 4-2.

Prop Bet of the Night

With their only being two games, let’s throw a bonus prop bet of the night to make things more interesting. Let’s stick with our featured game and go with the Schwartz of the Kraken. He’s got 12 points in his last nine games played and we think he’ll continue that trend. We like him getting the over on 0.5 points once again to keep his hot streak going.
